A Unique Initiative in the Church Inspired by Pope Francis’s Encyclical Laudato si’ Today, in a ceremony presided over by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, Borgo Laudato si’ was inaugurated: a site that for centuries served as a papal residence and that has now officially opened to the public, inspired by the principles of Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato si’, which this year marks the tenth anniversary of its publication

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV will officially inaugurate Borgo Laudato Si’, a historic papal residence newly opened to the public and dedicated to living out the vision of Laudato Si’, the landmark encyclical on creation and human dignity, now marking its tenth anniversary.

Pope Leo XIV will share a festive lunch with the poor of the Diocese of Albano at Borgo Laudato Si’, located in the gardens of the Pontifical Villas in Castel Gandolfo. Local restaurateurs will prepare the meal, which will be served by volunteers from the diocesan branch of Caritas and staff of Borgo Laudato si’.

“A Refuge in the Vineyard – Borgo Laudato Si’ as a model of Sustainable Development” is the title of the panel discussion organized by the Laudato Si’ Higher Education Center (CAF–LS), held on Thursday afternoon, September 19, 2024 at Palazzo San Calisto, and attended by international experts in the area of sustainable agriculture and viticulture.

On 2 February 2023, the Holy Father instituted the Laudato si’ Centre for Higher Education (CeAF-LS), a scientific, educational, and social actvity body, tasked with offering formation of the integral person and respect for the principals of the Encyclical Laudato si’, with particular regard for the young and those who live in conditions of vulnerability.

The Holy Father is launching the “Borgo Laudato Si’” Project for education in integral
ecology at his residence in Castel Gandolfo. The project is entrusted to the Laudato Si’
Centre for Higher Education.
